It's happening!

Japan v Scotland (11:45)

Scotland fans were clutching their pints that wee bit tighter into last night awaiting a World Rugby inspection of the stadium in Yokohama following the mayhem of Typhoon Hagibis.

A cancellation of today's winner-takes-all pool match would mean a 0-0 draw and Scotland's exit from the World Cup. There were whispers the game would be on, then off, then on again. There was an almighty midweek stooshie between World Rugby and Scottish Rugby, the game's governing body hammered for what was deemed intransigence and poor planning.

At long last, news broke around 02:50 BST that this monumental clash would go ahead as planned.

Now all Scotland need to do to reach the quarter-finals is beat a wonderfully clever, effervescent Japan side that took Ireland to the cleaners and are imbued with immeasurable national pride, and make sure they take four more points from the game than the host nation.

Piece of cake, eh?
